Dust of your lederhosen and dirndls! This year’s Oktoberfest in Longmont, Colorado starts this Friday, on the eve of the Autumn Equinox.
Kick off the season of festivity and goodwill with this 2-day musical and craft beer-drinking festival, organized by High Five Events to benefit non-profit organizations in Boulder County, like the “I Have a Dream Foundation” and the Left Hand Brewing Foundation, among others. Longmont’s Left Hand Brewing formed the Left Hand Brewing Foundation, as a conduit to help support community needs, arts and cultural activities in Boulder County and other areas.
This year’s efforts will also focus on bringing relief to those affected by the most recent natural disasters, Hurricanes Harvey and Irma. Be sure to stop and hang out at The Farm’s booth; we’ll be collecting cash-only donations to help the people recently devastated by Hurricane Irma.
FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 22ND | 4 PM – 10 PM
SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 23RD | 12 PM -10 PM
Ten breweries and two cideries will delight the the Longmont Oktoberfest crowd with tasty libations, while live music, local food and summer activities fill their minds and bellies for two days of celebration.
Jump and prance on Friday, the night of the Autumn Equinox, to the sounds of Reel Big Fish, the fun and boisterous ska punk band. Other musical acts like Perpetual Groove, BIG Something, Andy Frasco & The UN, Pandas & People, FACE, Rapidgrass, Bonnie & The Clydes, and Gasoline Lollipops will fill the air throughout the rest of the weekend.
Longmont’s version of this 200-year-old tradition features brat-eating and stein-holding contests, along with best-dressed awards and the world’s longest bratwurst festivities. Though you will need to bring your ID if you want to try any of the drinks, the Longmont Oktoberfest has activities for the whole family, including ponies, a petting zoo, a rock climbing wall, water activities, along with a full kid zone.
So whether you’re a vegan or an omnivore, grab a pretzel or brat (respectively, of course) and join in the Autumn fun while we support local not-for-profit organizations. Prost!
